This is an excellent article! I have been thinking about this concept a lot lately. There was a time when I would not have hesitated to kill any little creature that found its way into my lanai. One day something suddenly came over me; I started to look at them with compassion. I don’t let them stay in, but instead of killing them, I now gently guide them outside of the lanai. I have not yet evolved to the level where I can tolerate mosquitos and bugs. They terrify me! If by chance we are ever under the rule of aliens, I pray they will be more compassionate to us than we are to anything or anyone we consider less than we are.
Thank you for the support, John. If you ever happen to read the book, I'll be eager to hear your perspective, you have much to add to this conversation!
Hi John, I invite you to check out this publication: This is a free chapter, so you will get to know the story perspective a little
This short story, I consider, is a much timely post that, it might be, will help the ordinary middle-class people realise what we are going through at this very moment.
I hope the Jacksons’ perspective will shed a light!
Well this is a very interesting debate and here is my view on it. I agree that just because we are much bigger n stronger, it doesn’t make an excuse for killing tiny animals. Just pushing the away is sufficient….. But killing any of our own race, THAT is an unpardonable CRIME…
And many many humans commit that crime, for vvarious reasons, every single minute….😧😟😕🙁☹️😭
If human life is reduced to the struggle to survive, the end result is amorality and depravity. All life is precious, yes, even an unborn child, severely handicapped individual, an elderly end-stage Alzheimer’s victim, and every creature roaming the earth because we were all created through the spoken word of God Almighty. In addition, humans were given the responsibility by God of caring for the earth and God’s creatures. However, only man was created in the image of God and given the ability to reason, create, and choose between good and evil. To be compassionate towards the smallest of creatures is our responsibility but to lose sight of our ascendency is dangerous and self-destructive.
I once read an article by a theatre director who said that choice-making is inherently a violent act. In selecting one path, you are effectively ending thousands of others from unfolding. There’s no “right decision” we must approach each one mindfully or “make the decision the right way.” Thanks for the good for thought!

Ah, a moral conundrum from a replicator molecule. Bizarre really. Fascinating, thanks.
