Humans put their own reproduction and wellbeing before all other species. Ironically this is causing our own extinction. We are squeezing out all other species. It started slowly about two hundred years ago. Nowadays the destruction is exponential because we are aided and abetted by technology. Our technology is also causes climate-change as well as the destruction of ecosystems that support life on Earth.

Modern culture is driven by growth economics. Until we choose to shrink both the global economy and our own global population size the global ecosystems will continue to crumble under the exponential pressure of human population size and overconsumption.

We are in the final phase of the Sixth Mass Extinction and we are not exempt. I personally anticipate that human population collapse will happen this century. If we don't shrink our population deliberately using contraception, we shall simply starve or kill each other through wars over shrinking resources.

We need to improve the methods by which we foster care for forests, plants and endangered species in our societies. A good example of this is by using poetry to drive action. Here is a poem by environmentalist Dr. Love:
